A Change of Plans
Well, as you have probably noticed, the page is no longer British themed. To make a long story short, England could not accept me and the other two girls due to their new Visa policy. They can only accept Visas from students who are enrolled in their university. Unfortunately, there was no way we could enroll over there and have it transfer back to Bama. The coordinators of the program at Alabama basically gave us 6 options of what to do next: 1.) Mexico, 2.) Bahamas, 3.) South Africa, 4.) New Zealand, 5.) Australia, and 6.) remove the application and complete our student teaching in Tuscaloosa. Needless to say, I was devastated when I heard the news and was NOT about to stay in Tuscaloosa. After talking as a group (Heloise, Kendall, and myself), we seemed pretty geared towards Australia. We then spent the afternoon talking to our parents and convincing them that Australia is our next place of choice and that we are all OK with it as long as they were OK with it. By the end of today, my application was en route to Perth, Australia. The likelihood of acceptance to Perth is pretty safe. Instead of living in dorms like we would have in England, we'll be staying with host families (I was thrilled about this part!). And, being south of the equator we will be arriving in Australia at the start of their spring and leave at the beginning of their summer. It should be BEAUTIFUL! Although the change had some downfalls (family not being able to visit, LONG A** PLANE RIDE, and no European adventures) I am super excited about my new location and cannot wait to hang out down under!... and their accents are pretty amazing, too! So, I guess I will get to see for myself if the toilets really do spin the other way. I will add more about my trip when I know more. As for now, Good Day, Mate!
