A Day in Freo

On Saturday I went to the airport with John to pick up our newest COST member, Megan. Megan is from Findlay, Ohio and goes to Ohio State. She had to do six weeks of her student teaching in the states and the other six she was able to do here in Australia. Being new in town and because I feel like such a veteran, I decided to take Megan with me to Fremantle on Sunday. Freo (as they call it here) is a small town outside of Perth. On Sunday they had markets open in town so we went to look around at those and just sight see around the town. Fremantle is known for their prison that housed convicts around 1850 who kept the colony from falling apart. The convicts built roads and public buildings allowing Western Australia to transform into a vibrant community. We just looked around the prison, but didn't feel like paying for a tour. After shopping and touring, we headed back towards the city. It was fun getting to know the "new girl" and to build on my history lesson of Western Australia.
Tomorrow I'm back at school. I have seven more weeks of teaching (Year 4's now) and then one week after that until I leave for America on December 7th! It is flying by!
