Subiaco Saturday

For my first Saturday night in the country, we met up with some Australian friends that Ali knew. Half of the girls with COST have been here since May so they know the area well and help us out a lot. We haven't done anything touristy yet, but are getting to know the suburbs and pubs well. I have found that Aussies love to hear me talk. They point out every time I say "y'all" and try to impersonate me. I could listen to them talk all day as well. They also joke about how Australia receives TV shows, movies, and all media news later than America. So when the topic of Michael Jackson came up, they joked that they hadn't heard of his death yet. It gave me a good laugh and they enjoyed teasing the southern girl. We later went to Subiaco which is west of Perth. To get into the bars/clubs around here, they make these two lines on either side of the entrance and don't let people in until people come out. We are convinced these lines are just to make the place look cooler.

Today (Sunday), Ali, Mary and I walked to the Indian Ocean. This was my first time to be up close to it. It was beautiful, but cold and windy. I love how close I am -- 2 BLOCKS!!!
