Weekend #2

This weekend has gone by way too fast! Friday at school we had the Faction Carnival. We were outside all day and it rained off and on and was in the 40s... we all were miserable! I was so glad to have sundown drinks with the staff. There are two refrigerators in the staff room filled with wine, beer, and other drinks. Every Friday the teachers and staff get together after school and share stories and drink. It is very funny to me that there would be alcohol on school premises.

Yesterday (Saturday), Pippa took us girls s
hopping at the Joondalup Shopping Centre. I got some souvenirs and other goodies and we also went grocery shopping. This place is like a mall, but has grocery stores and everything. There are buggies there, too. However, their buggies are called trolleys and are 4-wheel drive. They are so hard to steer. After shopping, we went up to Yanchep to see her son's lot for a new home. Josh, her oldest son and his partner (same as girlfriend) Pia have a daughter, Ella, who is two. The three of them will be moving to Yanchep whenever their house is complete. We took a detour and looked at the beautiful water! I have never seen an ocean with so many shades of blue.Last night we went to watch the sunset before going over to Winston's host family's house for supper. The sunset was not the best - kind of windy and cold and then the clouds ruined the actual sunset. However, we all toasted to girls' return to the states and took some fun pictures. For supper we had about a six course meal. Winston and Ali left later last night to fly back to America so this was their going away supper. Len and Heather (Winston's host parents) made so much food for about twenty people. It was insane! I got to try tiger prawns (jumbo shrimp) and they were ginormous! There were also endless amounts of different wines to try. Hazel (John's wife) made a festive dessert that was half dedicated to Australia and the other half was dedicated to America. It was very cute and good. All of us enjoyed hanging out together, but it was sad to send the girls back home. I can't imagine when it comes time for Kendall and me to leave! I'm already so attached.Today John took Chloe, Kendall, and me to City West in Perth and dropped us off at Harbour Town that is an outlet shopping center. It was nice to spend a Sunday afternoon together and look around. I only ended up buying one thing... socks! I know that's exciting, right? I should probably get to writing some lesson plans now...

  1. Hey LaLa!! Mer loves the hopping kangaroo. We've watched it over and over. SB says she loves it too. (she's reading this as I'm typing.)
Mer says, "I want you to see my fishy."
    And now she walked off.
We miss you! Keep blogging and post often! We love hearing about your adventures!
