I can't believe it's only Tuesday. Teaching takes so much out of you! These past few days I have run the show and man, does it take energy. My lessons have been so-so, but today was better than yesterday. Today I taught a science lesson on change, a literacy lesson on pen pal writing, a maths lesson on fact families/introducing division, and a health lesson on dental health. A full day is an understatement. I did have one of my Irish students share with me during the health lesson that he brushes his teet (teeth with an Irish accent) everyday. I had to control my laughter and look away. I think that one comment made my entire day worth it. Funny comments from children... gotta love 'em! After school, Helen took Mary and me to a workshop on fractions with some other Hocking Primary teachers. There were some good ideas, but nothing that blew my socks off. Oh well, I'll take every experience I can.
Kendall and I finally have plans for our two week break coming up on September 25th (Dad's birthday!). We are flying to Cairns, Queensland to be a part of a Contiki tour to the Great Barrier Reef area and more. Contiki is a tour group that is just for ages 18-35 and are known for their partying and living it up-ness. We will spend 7 days on the tour and end up in Whitsundays, Queensland. We get to experience aboriginal dancers and learn how to throw a boomerang. We'll also get to go sailing out to the GBR and snorkel. I'm even looking at doing a hot air balloon ride there! We are trying to decide on our second week of break. There is possibility that we'll go on to Sydney and do some site-seeing there or come on back to Perth and experience the touristy things here. Either way, I know we'll have so much fun!
